Happy Holidays! Well almost. Much like Christmas music on the radio, our family’s Christmas weekend begins a lot earlier than the actual holiday. Unlike the Christmas music on the radio however, our’s only lasts the weekend.
For the record I like Christmas music on the radio. Hot tip for the season. Bruce Cockburn’s classic album “Christmas.” “Mary Had a Baby” is a hit.

Another festive hit that is inseparable from the holidays is a warm sandwich with marbled beef and fermented cabbage…. The Reuben. And this year offered a fresh take on the classic treat! Our family does a secret Santa gift exchange and this year, my wonderfully creative and intrepid sister, Abby, had me as her recipient. The theme of the particular gift that she was tasked to give me was “Drink.” Pictured above is Abby’s masterpiece.

After chatting with Abby, it sounds like the inspiration for this concoction came to her almost instantaneously, as who wouldn’t naturally decide to create an entirely unique, reuben-based refreshment, magically and seamlessly blending all of the subtle notes of the classic sandwich into a vogue new cocktail that is both remarkable in it’s execution and stunning in it’s relevance! Bravo Abby. Much like yourself, this drink is truly an original.

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention Becky. This is Abby’s good friend who, by all accounts, is a savant when it comes to cuisine, and was an eager collaborator in the creation of “Graham’s Reubenmania Inspired Christmas Cocktail.”

Move over Caesar…. Take a seat Eggnog… There’s a new sheriff in town.

…And to all a goodnight!
