Blairmore, Ab.
This review is coming from the town adjacent to my town! Blairmore and Coleman respectively. Also for the record they are both part of a larger collective of towns known more broadly as the Crowsnest Pass, tucked down in the serenely beautiful, but fantastically windy southwest corner of Alberta.
Known for the wind, the wide spectrum of flora and fauna, the mountain bike trails and the fly fishin’, it turns out that Reubens can’t be added to the Crowsnest List as Cherry on Top Bakery and Koffie shop’s offering was a bit of a flop… you might even say "Cherry on Flop” (Nic Morantz, 2023). For a sandwich with so many potentially explosive flavours … smoky meats, krauts, cheeses and crispy breads (not to mention pickles), the most notable feature of this sandwich was how bland it was. For the record it pains me to give a lacklustre review, but alas…
Despite this, it was still an enjoyable lunch as you can probably infer from the completely relaxed demeanour of Matt (pictured). The steaming mug of joe combined with a sunny view of the backside of Turtle mountain (front side is known for spilling its guts all over the town of Frank 100 odd years ago) made for a great venue to chat about how expensive life has gotten over the past several months. Maybe that’s cause of all the Reubens I thought. However, it seems to be a broader problem as Matt is also facing it... So I suppose while we didn’t find the root cause, we did find out that it can’t be traced to a monthly sandwich. Onward and upward!
